Applications are invited for a full-time, fixed term role (24 months) of Communications Manager - University of Oxford Sustainable Chemicals and Materials Manufacturing Hub (SCHEMA), (flexible working and possible job-sharing would be considered). The Hub’s mission is to deliver a step change in sustainable chemical manufacturing in the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the communications for the high-profile Sustainable Chemicals and Materials Manufacturing Hub (SCHEMA) at the University of Oxford. This will include devising and implementing communication strategies for the Hub that enable the delivery of its respective mission and aims through delivering activities across multiple media (web, social media, media, events and publications). You will report to the SCHEMA Director (Prof Charlotte Williams FRS) and join the core Hub operational team, including the Hub manager and partner managers. You will work closely with the communications teams in the Department of Chemistry, Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division (MPLS) and the central University. You will also co-ordinate with the teams in other Oxford departments contributing to SCHEMA Hub, and in other SCHEMA partner universities (Bath, Cambridge, Cardiff, Liverpool and York). SCHEMA’s vision is to establish the new science and engineering for the manufacture of sustainable chemicals and materials using processes that operate with renewable raw materials from waste, air and water, and are powered by renewable electricity delivering UK supply chain resilience and manufacturing sector interconnectivity from chemicals to polymers. It will deliver a broad programme of innovative science, engineering and technical research through research programmes across its partner universities. The research and technology translation involves partnerships with a range of companies, catapaults, civic partners and third sector organisations. The hub will train and mentor early career scientists, engineers and researchers working in its partner universities across the UK. Applicants must be educated to degree level, or have equivalent professional experience and have extensive skills and experience communicating through print, digital and social media. You will have the ability to use software tools for generating high-quality, accessible and engaging online media such as charts, visualisations and websites (e.g. CANVA).
