We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience or willing to learn how to install, maintain, repair and modify large/complex systems that provide for a variety of air conditioning functions such as heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, cleaning, filtering and circulating.
About the role:
If hired at full performance level W-06, the pay will be £14.55ph plus a Recruitment Incentive totaling £7,376.72 per year for four years. Subject to conditions.
This is a development position and may be hired at different levels depending on the qualifications and years of experience. Progressional education will be provided by the employer subject to conditions.
You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of complex heating boilers, power boilers, domestic heating units and system, and auxiliary and pollution control equipment; air conditioning and refrigeration, temperature controls and control devices, such as damper motors, mixing valves, and modulating motor. Your expertise will ensure the seamless operation of vital systems in warehouses, shops, hangars, hospitals, and large office buildings. You will work 39 hours per week, working hours will be a fixed schedule Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm, although shift work may be required due to workload demands or emergency call outs.
Main duties and responsibilities:
* Plan, install, troubleshoot, resolve issues and modify systems.
* Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring devices.
* Read and follow technical instructions.
About you:
The ideal HVAC Mechanic will hold the relevant qualifications based on skill level:
* Entry Level: GCSE (Math, English & Science Grades 9-4 A-C) or BTEC level 2.
* Intermediate Level: Level 2 - City & Guilds 6188-20/6188-21/6188-22/6288-21.
* Advanced Level: Level 3 - City & Guilds 6188-30/6188-31/6188-32/6288-31.
* Fully Qualified Level: Level 3 - City & Guilds 6188-30/6188-31/6188-32/6288-31 plus related experience.
For advanced and fully qualified levels, you will need in-depth knowledge of combustion, heat transfer principles, and fuel characteristics, and expertise in air conditioning, refrigeration, and temperature control systems. You should have a strong understanding of safety regulations and proficient maintenance skills. Experience with a variety of tools and equipment is essential.
This position requires you to have the ability to discern colours, contrast, and depth. A pre-employment physical is required for this role, which will be carried out by us. You may work with hazardous materials such as asbestos or accumulated waste, therefore will be required to wear protective clothing and gear on these occasions. Position requires CFC/NCFC Certification (universal) as required by 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F., EPA. You will also be required to complete in-house system familiarisation and pass review with DIO Authorized Person (Boilers and Pressure Systems) to gain Skilled Person certification. You must also hold a valid Category B driver’s license, as you will be required to drive a vehicle.
