Our Media team is at the cutting edge of this market and are recognised as being a highly specialised and expert team of underwriters. From podcasts to influencer marketing agencies – we understand how quickly the risks facing these emerging content creators and service providers can change and pride ourselves on our adaptability and exceptional service ethic.
As a Media Underwriter you will be actively contributing to the team’s strategic vision in a fast-paced and vibrant environment. We have a strong emphasis on personal and professional development and you will be expected to coach and mentor more junior members of the team with your experience and expertise.
Key responsibilities
* Working within a team with a global footprint, you will be responsible for underwriting a caseload of new and renewal business in a variety of territories.
* You will work closely with the other Underwriters, Managers and the Team Leader in order to provide exceptional service and forward-thinking insurance solutions to this evolving sector.
* You will consider submissions for media businesses globally and be able to offer a cross-class package policy solution including E&O, Cyber, Public & Products Liability and Employers Liability.
* You will cross sell and work with multiple specialist underwriting teams around the business in order to help build programmes for our clients.
* You will be involved in all aspects of underwriting including writing new business and renewals as well as developing long-term broker relationships.
* You will work to grow your technical underwriting and business development skills in order to become a trusted advisor and respected specialist underwriter within the Media and Creative industry.
* Respond to and manage enquiries from brokers in a timely and professional manner, producing new and renewals quotations within agreed SLAs.
* Proactively develop and seek out new business opportunities, building strong broker relationships (both face to face and over the phone) to create profitable media business.
* Explain the features and benefits of media products and coverage enhancements, support products launches and raise awareness of new and existing products.
* Deliver internal and external presentations on CFC products and key trends in media exposure.
* Research with a mind to develop subject matter expertise in media classes and investigate relevant legislation/ regulation/compliance issues within our target markets.
* Provide guidance and support to junior members of the media underwriting team on technical queries.
* Support and contribute to team projects (e.g. enhancements to product offering, launch of new products, systems, policies and processes etc.).
* Contribute effectively to team performance standards and new business / renewal targets.
* Travel to meet brokers and clients both in the UK and over time, internationally.
Skills & experience
The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of experience within the insurance industry preferably within Underwriting, but we will consider broking. You will have knowledge of entertainment/media or professional indemnity based insurance products as well as a desire to use both technical underwriting and business development skills.
We are looking for driven, self-starters with a strong work ethic who can contribute to a fast-paced working environment and work within a high performance team. You will need to be sales and service focussed, confident and personable on the phone and in front of our customers and be able to demonstrate a hunger and aptitude to support growth within the team. You will be analytical with strong attention to detail but also able to reach conclusions quickly and make effective decisions.
You will be expected to work at a high pace and intensity that underpins the successful framework of the CFC business and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support our ambitious growth plans. Regardless of experience you will have a sincere interest/passion for the media sector. Given the emerging nature of our class of insurance, a successful candidate will be keen to stay on top of current affairs and changes within the industry.
