What's involved with this role: Interim Qualified Teacher of the Deaf - TPS SEN Reference no: Dudley 99873 Pay rate: £251.71 per day PAYE Hours per week: 35-37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours This opening assignment is for 3 months City: DUDLEY DBS disclosure may be required The day-to-day delivery of specialist teaching programmes and support for secondary aged pupils within the Listen and Learn Centre (LLC) and to mainstream pupils on agreed caseload. This is the secondary phase of Dudley’s resourced provision for the Deaf and is part of the Hearing Impairment Service. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Teacher-in-Charge to coordinate the work and deployment of LLC staff according to the individual needs of the deaf pupils supported by the LLC. Keep careful records relating to pupil progress and the effectiveness of support. Produce records and reports as requested by the Teacher-in-Charge or Head of HI Service. Support the Teacher-in-Charge in overseeing the management of audiological equipment on a day-to-day basis. Impact of Teaching and Learning on Educational Progress Contribute to the assessment of individual deaf pupil's educational and communication needs and to devise appropriate support plans. Advise on specialist equipment and specific strategies appropriate to individual pupils Monitor and maintain records of teaching, meetings, planning and pupil progress. Contribute to assessment of the effectiveness of support for deaf pupils. Support the Teacher-in-Charge in ensuring that all deaf pupils have access to a broad and balanced curriculum in line with the objectives identified in their Education, Health and Care Plans. Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status Mandatory Teacher of the Deaf qualification Minimum BSL Level 1 Deaf Awareness Hold a current driving licence. Use of own vehicle Knowledge: Knowledge of Statutory Legislation, financial and Contractual Regulations Demonstrable knowledge of IT packages and web based applications. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and asset management software Experience: Substantial experience of working with secondary aged hearing impaired children and young people within inclusive settings Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team. Experience of delivering INSET to teaching and non-teaching colleagues. Experience of advising mainstream colleagues on teaching and learning styles and practical strategies that enable deaf pupils to access a broad and balanced curriculum. Experience of supporting and working collaboratively with parents/carers. Experience of the working procedures of the SENDCOP and Equality Act. Experience of target setting and writing Individual Learning Plans. Experience and expertise in managing personal hearing aids and radio aids on a daily basis. Evidence of continuing professional development to keep abreast of new developments in technology and new research relating to good practice in teaching children and young people. Able to work co-operatively and effectively as part of a team of professionals. Well-organised, with good time management.
