The Role
An exciting opportunity to join the Operational Resilience team. This team is part of our Life function, which is part of the Risk and Remediation team reporting into the Life Chief Operating Officer. The aim is to protect the life business's customers, employees, and reputation when a disruption occurs.
The team ensures the right processes and procedures are in place and supports the business units to respond and recover from any disruption. The team will also oversee third-party resilience standards.
What will you be doing?
As an Operational Resilience Apprentice, daily duties include:
* Supporting the team and the business units in business continuity planning, including identifying their critical processes and recovery strategies.
* Supporting scenario testing to ensure recovery strategies are fit for purpose.
* Managing internal customer queries.
* Training and awareness on the importance of resilience to colleagues in the life business.
* Attending third-party resilience oversight meetings.
* Supporting the delivery of our resilience maturity journey.
* Engaging with operational resilience experts in other areas of M&G.
* Developing knowledge of the regulatory requirements on operational resilience.
* Learning how to have effective risk management in place and how resilience risks are identified, assessed, managed, and reported.
Requirements and Prospects
Qualifications Required
* Available to start the apprenticeship programme in September 2025.
* You must not be enrolled in another further education programme at the beginning of the programme.
* Be a UK citizen or have proof of your right to work in the UK.
* Living in Scotland.
* Pass in Five National 5s including English and Maths.
* Minimum of Grade C in Two Highers or equivalent.
Skills Required
* Confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to manage processes and coordinate with different people.
* Strong customer service awareness.
* Empathy and good listening skills.
* Efficient, proactive, structured approach to work, and very well organized.
* High level of accuracy and good attention to detail.
* Can effectively manage day-to-day work alongside apprenticeship qualification.
* Moderate understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* A proactive team player who is confident about working with others but also independently.
* Logical and analytical approach coupled with intelligence, passion, and a drive to learn.
Future Prospects
This is a fixed-term contract for 18 - 23 months, upon which the business may decide to retain, subject to the apprentice's performance, headcount, and available funding. If recruited into a permanent role, the individual will follow the career progression applicable to the specific role/department.
Training Provided
As an Operational Resilience Apprentice with M&G, you will undertake the Business Administration SCQF Level 6 Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will be delivered through a blend of live online learning, pre-recorded lectures, and face-to-face inductions and masterclasses.
