Introduction
Customer Experience and Service Delivery (CE&SD) supports the delivery of the House Administration Strategy, providing Members, passholders, and the public with consistently excellent services that make Parliament happen. The department comprises eight diverse teams which keep Parliament clean, safe, and operational, and is responsible for a range of services including Accommodation, Service Delivery, Retail, Customer Services, Catering, Logistics, Workplace Project Management, and Porterage.
This role will work directly within the Porterage function, with key links and working relationships with Accommodation and Service Delivery functions. These teams ensure that all changes to workspace arrangements for users of the estate are delivered with minimal disruption, supporting the operational needs of Parliament.
The Role
Based on the Westminster Estate, this role forms an integral part of planning and delivery of office re-designs and moves required to enable customers to deliver parliamentary business.
The post-holder will be required to deliver business as usual workspace planning and office layout changes, using their technical knowledge to offer solutions that meet the approved customer need, as well as advising on suitable layouts for required workplace adjustments. This service will work across requests from both Houses and a range of customers, including Members.
Some of the responsibilities for this role include:
* Using computer-aided design (CAD) in planning office layouts to fulfil the provided brief and produce technical CAD drawings to relevant agreed statutory and Parliamentary standards.
* Combining knowledge of the Building Regulations Part M Vol.2 buildings other than dwellings, access to and use of buildings, Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), Display Screen Equipment (DSE), Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, and NICEIC guidelines with the Parliamentary Accommodation Standards in a flexible way to meet the needs of the customer.
* Liaising with contractors and House staff to ensure office layouts are delivered as per the technical specification of the CAD drawings, with relevant compliance with Health and Safety and Heritage considerations, ensuring delivery, installation, and movement of furniture.
Skills And Experience
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
* Experience in the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) AutoCAD software in space planning office layouts to fulfil the brief and produce technical CAD drawings and the use of MS Office is essential for this role. Demonstrate an understanding of the Building Regulations Part M Vol.2 buildings other than dwellings, access to and use of buildings, Equalities Act of 2010, Display Screen Equipment (DSE), Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, and NICEIC guidelines.
* Experience in the use of Autodesk Revit 3D software and Planon software or a similar Workplace Management System is desirable for this role.
* Ability to lead and co-ordinate furniture ordering and moves, within moves management processes, to demanding deadlines through careful planning, with flexibility to adapt plans to respond to reactive demands through the identification and organisation of resources needed to accomplish the task.
