Safeguarding Social Worker
Location: North Region
Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 p.a.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Travel Required: Yes, including travel to other company offices

Purpose of the Role:
As a Safeguarding Social Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring that the highest safeguarding standards are maintained across the Client's services. Your primary focus will be on reviewing and enhancing safeguarding arrangements for children and young people, improving outcomes, managing risks, and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
You will work closely with internal colleagues and external agencies to provide protection, support, and intervention for vulnerable children, helping to embed a safeguarding culture across the organisation. Your work will contribute to the continuous improvement of services, ensuring that our practices exceed regulatory standards and are focused on making a positive and lasting difference to the children and young people in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safeguarding Oversight: Independently review and improve safeguarding arrangements for children and young people, ensuring these arrangements lead to positive outcomes and lasting changes in their lives.
2. Risk Management: Assess and review risk management plans for children, providing guidance to improve risk assessment skills and ensuring that children’s safety is always prioritized.
3. Training and Awareness: Deliver safeguarding training sessions and workshops, helping staff understand best practices and raising awareness about their role in keeping children safe.
4. Complaint and Allegation Management: Investigate and manage complaints and allegations made against staff across residential, fostering, and education services, ensuring that appropriate actions are taken in line with safeguarding policies.
5. Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with operational teams to ensure that safeguarding practices are integrated across services and are continuously improved through regular reviews and quality assurance processes.
6. Quality Assurance: Ensure safeguarding documentation is of a high standard, demonstrating adherence to social work theory and practice, with thorough analysis and ongoing reflective practice.
7. Strategic Contributions: Contribute to the organisation’s strategic safeguarding plan, advocating for a safeguarding culture that drives growth, development, and continuous improvement across the client's group.
8. Policy Development: Advise and make recommendations on strategies and policy changes that will support safeguarding and improve practice across the organisation.
Key Requirements:
1. Social Work Qualification: Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.
2. Professional Membership: Registered with Social Work England or the relevant professional body.
3. Experience: Extensive experience in safeguarding roles, including managing complaints and allegations, with a strong understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements.
4. Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of childcare legislation, including regulations and standards for residential children’s homes and fostering, and the inspection framework (e.g., Ofsted).
5. Commitment to Improvement: A strong desire to improve services and help drive the organisation towards achieving Good or Outstanding Ofsted ratings.
6. Health & Safety Awareness: An understanding of health and safety legislation and its application to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and colleagues.
