Children's Support Worker

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Children's Support Worker to provide dedicated care for a child with complex needs. The child is a wheelchair user requiring hoisting for all transfers, and the role will involve assisting with mobility, personal care, and daily routines. A patient and understanding approach is essential, as well as the ability to provide reassurance and maintain a structured, supportive environment. Drivers are essential for this role.
Position: Children's Support Worker
Location: Huddersfield
Hours: Part time
Salary: £13.00 - £16.00 per hour
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Monday evenings, every Saturday and extra hours in school holidays
About the role:
Supporting with personal care, medication, meal preparation, and light domestic tasks
Encouraging independence while ensuring safety and wellbeing
Providing stability and consistency in care routines
Driving a wheelchair-adapted vehicle to facilitate outings and appointments
Ensuring dignity, privacy, and choice are respected at all times
About you:
Experience in a similar role, particularly with children or individuals with complex needs
A kind, empathetic, and patient nature
Ability to communicate effectively and respond to individual care needs
Driver’s licence and access to a vehicle (essential)
Reliability, flexibility, and a positive attitude
Good comprehension of the English language
