Hear from our team about what it's like working at Policy Expert ✨ Your Responsibilities As the Business Resilience Manager sitting in the 2 nd Line, you will lead on the business-wide approach to operational resilience – specifically compliance with regulatory Operational Resilience as per FCA PS21/3, business continuity, serious incident management and controls strengthening through a Risk Events programme. Working with the Risk Manager, you will drive action on the effectiveness of internal controls where gaps or ineffective controls are identified through the Risk Events programme – whether through post-incident lessons learned, through the risk events approach, or through Resilience or Continuity exercising, testing or review. The role holder will support the Group Head of Risk in developing, delivering and maturing all aspects of the Operational Resilience (FCA PS21/3) and Business Continuity programmes; which includes management of the relevant aspects of the BC lifecycle and framework adherence; operational BC Plans for response and seeking optimisation of processes by merging the Business Continuity and Operational Resilience programmes where appropriate. Operational Resilience responsibilities include the capture of relevant business process and resource requirements for Important Business Services (IBS) and a focus on mapping, plan testing, vulnerability identification, training, exercising, and lessons learned. Business Continuity responsibilities specifically include management of and training to stakeholders around Business Impact Analysis (BIAs) and subsequent Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) and operationalising the Business Continuity Lifecycle aligned to BCI Good Practice Guidelines as the BCM. Ownership of the Exercise and Testing programme. Manage the design, delivery, implementation and maturity of the programme and help to socialise through awareness, testing, training, validation and exercising. Develop and maintain an appropriate dynamic customer harm assessment framework in support of the operational resilience programme – and support the 1 st Line with adoption of these assessments as part of BAU - retaining second line oversight. Delivery of Group-wide robust Serious Incident and Risk Event frameworks, including an appropriate escalation and reporting framework and Lessons Learned process to support continuous improvement; the role holder will lead, coordinate and facilitate the active response to serious incidents on behalf of the entire business as the Business Incident Lead and ensure that post-incident processes are followed. Ownership of the Risk Events programme: Ensuring correct documentation in the identification, assessment, recording, mitigation, actions, action tracking, controls gaps or failure identification review, challenge and reporting in relation to Risk Events; working alongside the Risk Managers to drive an integrated approach to risk management with a clear focus on supporting the company to act on lessons learned after risk materialisation; driving positive action and continuous improvement from all lessons learned together in a single methodology to promote correct remediation actions through controls and control effectiveness assessments, championing and supporting the development and embedding of risk culture across the organisation, and helping the business develop and enhance its risk maturity. Conduct all aspects of Business Continuity and Operational Resilience Due Diligence for all relevant suppliers across the Group. Who are you: The role requires strong experience and understanding of business continuity and regulatory operational resilience principles (FCA: PS21/3), preferably within the Insurance sector, risk management, internal control systems and the ability to provide insightful recommendations. You will join our highly skilled and friendly 2 nd Line Governance team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced person to help shape the direction and delivery of all our services and really make a difference to the risk and resilience culture within our business. You must be able to demonstrate material involvement in the development and/or operational socialisation of ‘Operational Resilience’ as per FCA PS21/3. You will have recently worked in an FCA or PRA-regulated Financial Services firm. The ability to remain level-headed during live incidents and have the wherewithal and influence to ensure the organisation acts and responds appropriately. A good understanding of an insurance company’s core business processes and customer journeys. Excellent communication skills and the ability to sustain effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, at all levels with the ability to deal with multiple stakeholders, negotiating and influencing for positive outcomes. The ability to work at pace and with resilience in the successful delivery of change – implementing new processes and improving existing ones. Ability to maintain a realistic balance on multiple priorities and to work independently on projects from conception to completion Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with decision-making capability and can demonstrate an understanding of analytical techniques to successfully support business objectives - with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
