Randstad is seeking a Section Engineer to join a reputable integrated services contractor on a highways improvement contract in the Surrey Area near Weybridge Previous experience working on highways maintenance contracts (eg TFL) is highly enouraged. This role is paid via CIS and expected to last 12-18 months. Scope of work will include roadworks and resurfacing schemes, drainage, street lighting, lining and signing projects, accessibility upgrades, urban realm improvement and walking / cycling paths Key Responsibilities: Project Leadership: Take overall responsibility for the successful completion of designated sections or full projects, leading by example and ensuring the day-to-day delivery of construction work. Team Management: Manage a small team, ensuring all members are inducted and meeting role-specific requirements. Provide leadership, coaching, and training to motivate the team and enhance performance. Program Management: Draw up and monitor 4 weeks program, ensuring project milestones are achieved. Progress Monitoring: Maintain accurate progress records such as As built, check sheet, etc. and deliver regular Toolbox Talks to keep the team aligned. Budget & Cost Control: Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring resources are utilized efficiently and within the specified contract budget. Safety & Compliance: Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm, implement safety policies, and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, conducting safety tours and supporting accident/incident investigations. Subcontractor Management: Manage subcontractor attendance and progress, providing direct instruction and support to ensure contractual arrangements are met. Sustainability & Values: Support and drive the delivery of sustainability initiatives, living the company's values. Key Qualifications: Proven experience in site management, particularly within the construction industry. ONC, HNC, or degree in civil engineering Strong leadership and team management skills. In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations. Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and subcontractors effectively. Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated commitment to achieving project objectives, focusing on safety, quality, and time.
