Job Description
OSL Consulting Engineers, a nexos company, are Looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis. This role offers 3-in/2-home hybrid working, with Monday and Friday being WfH days and Tuesday-Thursday in the office in Hessle.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the provision of technical services from the mechanical department, including delivering agreed project scopes. You will manage and provide direction to a small but growing team of mechanical engineers and designers within our expanding business.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Provision of technical services relating to mechanical engineering elements of project scopes; with special attention to the design basis, FEED, and EPCm scope preparation and execution, design/safety reviews, specification and procurement of equipment and materials, vendor selection and timely resolution of technical and engineering issues.
* Acting as a technical expert, and final technical approval authority, in mechanical engineering.
* Leading the team, developing design scope and ensuring that all related deliverables comply with applicable codes, standards, project and company requirements and procedures.
* Coordinating and aligning the mechanical engineering interfaces between project phases.
* Establishing professional working relationships with client engineers and direct partner companies with any technical queries and interpretation of scope, specifications and standards.
* Ensuring that all assigned work is carried out in compliance to the agreed budget and schedule.
To be successful in this role, you should be able to demonstrate:
* BSc/MSc. or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* Chartered Mechanical Engineer Status (preferred).
* Extensive experience in mechanical engineering design in the oil and gas, petro-chemical, chemical and/or other high hazard industries with proven experience of producing deliverables to budgeted man-hours.
* Demonstrable experience as a Lead Mechanical Engineer on a variety of projects within a reputable engineering consultancy, EPIC contractor or client organisation. Package Engineering experience is of specific interest, whether rotating and/or static equipment.
* Experienced in the supervision of discipline designers and associated administrative functions.
* Proven ability to mentor and coach mechanical team members.
* Experienced in use of design and assessment methods used within discipline.
* Fully familiar with international design codes and standards. Experienced in ASME codes, API codes (for installations, tanks and rotating equipment) and European EN codes (for piping and vessels).
* Experienced in mechanical/piping fabrication, steel structures and mechanical-civil interface.
* Experienced in 3D design and modelling methods used within discipline.
* Experienced in quality control requirements and quality assurance for engineering work.
* Excellent multi-discipline communications.
* Experienced with (or good knowledge of) analytical methods used within discipline including theoretical background for analysis programs is desirable.
