Job summary Working Full time: 37.5 hours per week Will be a member of a multi disciplined medical engineering team and will work without supervision on a wide range of complex medical equipment.There will be particular responsibility for highly complex systems including patient monitoring units, diagnostic ultrasound, anaesthetic machines, life support ventilators, medical lasers, infusion devices, baby incubators and defibrillators. These equipments will at times, be connected to patients. Most of the work will be none routine and the ability to prioritise and respond to emergency requests is essential. Main duties of the job 1) To carry out acceptance testing including functional and quality assurance tests. 2) To work on medical equipment that requires highly developed techniques, expertise and accurate control of precision tools and small components. 3) To plan and organise maintenance tasks related to their duties and prioritise responses to emergency breakdown requests. 4) To participate in the department's emergency on-call rota. 5) To negotiate with other healthcare professionals and patients in the community to obtain access to medical equipment in order to perform planned maintenance and/or repairs at mutually convenient times. 6) To act as a Lead Specialist in their area of expertise, gathering complex information and disseminating relevant information.
