We are looking for experienced Registered Mental Health Nurses to join us on our mixed ward Assessment Unit at the Kings Wood Centre, Colchester.
If successful you will be involved with a wide multi-disciplinary team caring on an assessment ward for Adult Inpatients.
You will care for your patients holistically, involving carers and relatives and work alongside medical and therapies staff. You will be able to adapt quickly to changing situations and provide high quality care to your patients.

Main duties of the job
JOB SUMMARY:
* Assist the ward in the day to day operation of the clinical area, and the development of the team.
* Work collaboratively as a Key Worker within the multidisciplinary team, acting as a role model for good practice; this includes liaising with associated professionals and other agencies, and offering support and guidance to clinical team as necessary.
* Ensure effective communication with patients, relatives, visitors and staff. To include the management of clinical risk, ensuring that risks are assessed, identified and care planned for individuals, and that any issues of concern are communicated within the multidisciplinary team, this includes environmental factors.
* Make effective use of evidence based practice in day to day clinical practice.
* Implement and ensure effective use of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act where necessary. Represent nursing team and provide reports for Manager's Hearings and Mental Health Act Tribunals.
* Ensure safe standards apply to the administration of medication.
* Support colleagues in interventions relating to the management of violence and aggression, including de-escalation techniques and the use of physical intervention (DC&R techniques) as necessary.
* Ability to work flexibly over a 24 hour period in order to meet the operational requirements of the unit.

* Complete mandatory training in line with Trust policy and procedures.
* Participate in the staff appraisal process and to undertake appraisals for any staff you manage.
* Keep yourself updated on all matters relating to Trust policy.
* Provide management supervision where appropriate.
* Work collaboratively with key partner organisations, patients, carers, clinicians and other practitioners within the multi-disciplinary team in delivering services; providing a 7-day a week, 24-hours a day service for 365 days a year working shifts, where appropriate and operationally required.

* RMN ENB 998 Equivalent
* Evidence of continued professional development.
Skills

* Development skills and relevant qualification.
Work Experience
* Evidence of continued learning.
* Experience within Adults inpatient settings.
