This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College.
In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based HR Team.

Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College).
This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. By applying for this position, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations.
BACKGROUND TO THE POST
At WCG we have valued for many years the input that returning students make as Residential Student Wardens/Mentors. These post holders form a part of the Residential team and work closely with the Staff Residential Wardens to ensure that the residential campuses are safe and enjoyable places for our residential students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
✓ To Liaise with and support the Duty Staff Residential Warden. Your duties will form a part of a rota with other Student and Staff Residential Wardens. Whilst on duty, you must remain on site to support the staff warden throughout the night if required. The rota will include evenings and weekends.
✓ To assist the Duty Residential Warden while on patrol in the residential areas.
✓ To assist with the running of and security at student events, as and when they are put on by the
Students’ Union.
✓ To support the Duty Residential Warden while monitoring the conduct of students in the bar.
✓ To assist the Duty Staff Residential Warden with emergency transport requirements.
✓ One every 4-6 weeks you will run one evening entertainment session with the support from the
warden team. This session will be geared to U18 year old students.
✓ To attend Student Residential Warden team meetings and other appropriate liaison meetings.
✓ To be a link for new residential students and help them to settle into life on campus meeting with flats to help them plan how they are going to manage shared living and accommodation related issues.
✓ To assist the staff residential wardens as required with drop in sessions throughout the year and mediation of any flat issues.
✓ Safeguard and promote the welfare of Children and Vulnerable adults for whom you come into contact with.
✓ To apply the College Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety Policies, and be a responsible member of the residential community.
✓ To carry out other such appropriate duties as may be required from time to time by the Senior Residential Warden or his/her nominated deputy.
✓ To attend a training week prior to the start of term.
✓ To fully participate in fully required training including Safeguarding Young People and Vulnerable Adults, Equality and Diversity, Raising awareness of Prevent, First Aid at Work, Fire safety and Evacuation, etc.
In order to support during busy exam periods, you may be asked to undertake exam invigilator duties. The College will provide training.

ESSENTIAL ATTAINMENTS
✓ Working knowledge of information technology such as e-mail, the internet and other software applications
✓ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and
written.
✓ Good interpersonal skills.
DESIRABLE ATTAINMENTS
✓ First Aid at Work Certificate (successful applicants
will be required to attend this training early on).
✓ A full UK driving License free of major endorsements
to be able to drive a College car.
✓ Sound knowledge of Minimum Care.
✓ Standards as inspected by Ofsted
✓ Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
