Specialist Biomedical Scientist - Cellular Pathology (Band 6 - 37.5hrs/week) - Permanent contract
An exciting opportunity has arisen for suitably qualified Specialist Biomedical Scientists to join our friendly but busy Cellular Pathology team at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. The Department handles in excess of 21,000 surgical histology requests and 1600 non-gynaecological specimens per year.
Main duties of the job
Suitable candidates will be required to have extensive Cellular Pathology knowledge, experience and successfully completed their IBMS registration and specialist portfolio or equivalent qualification. You will need to be able to demonstrate that you are self-motivated, organised and participating in CPD activities. You will be working alongside Medical Laboratory Assistants, Assistant Practitioners, Biomedical Scientists, Junior Medical staff and Consultant Pathologists and will be expected to rotate through all sections of the laboratory and take part in our early/late rotas following relevant training.
The department is currently implementing digital pathology and Vantage workflow management systems. The successful candidate will be required to engage fully with this process and support implementation and development of the service.

Consideration may be given to applicants who can demonstrate that they are near to completion of their specialist portfolio and if successful would be paid at Band 5 rate until completed. You will need to be able to demonstrate that you are self-motivated, organised and participating in CPD activities. You will be working alongside Medical Laboratory Assistants, Assistant Practitioners, Biomedical Scientists, Junior Medical staff and Consultant Pathologists and will be expected to rotate through all sections of the laboratory and take part in our early/late rotas following relevant training.
