PLEASE NOTE, WHILST WE ARE RECRUITING FOR A SIX-MONTH FIXED TERM APPOINTMENT STARTING IN JULY, WE CAN OFFER SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES AN IMMEDIATE START IF APPROPRIATE. IRRESPECTIVE OF START DATE, THE CONTRACT WILL BE FIXED TERM UNTIL DECEMBER 24 2025.
This post is an ideal opportunity for a doctor who wishes to develop educational insight and capability. The post holder will work with the unit leads in planning and delivering all aspects of undergraduate medical education in Phase 1 of the curriculum in a variety of different methods. The role has an emphasis on clinical skills and providing clinical context for students learning in early years. As part of the educator team, the position offers opportunities for involvement in a variety of academic tasks including student assessment and applicant selection for places at the medical school.
We are a short 5 minute walk from Crewe train station and only 10 minutes from the M6, giving us excellent connections to Manchester, Liverpool and beyond.
Role Purpose:
The primary role of the clinical educators is to support the unit leads in delivering group work sessions, to act as group work facilitators and integrate biomedical science in a clinical context for the students learning in the early years.
Secondary to this, there are a varied number of additional tasks which an educator may be required to participate in when opportunities arise. These include:
* Exam question writing and marking
* OSCE writing, review and assessing
* Filming videos for clinical skills foundation course, selection stations, OSCE training
* Review and development of teaching materials, including question and model answer writing
* Delivery of revision sessions (to include both written and OSCE revision)
* Student Selection Component supervision
* Involvement in Quality Improvement projects in the faculty
This is not a complete list but provides a flavour of the scope of involvement that the educators have within the Medical School. From time to time, you may be asked to perform additional tasks at the discretion of the Medical School senior leadership team.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Medicine
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
* Completion of the UK Foundation Programme
* Enthusiasm for Medical Education
* Ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues and students
* Excellent team working skills
* Pro-active approach to autonomous working
* Logical, creative and rational approaches to tasks
* Proficient in MS Office
* Right to Work in the UK (Please note we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role)
* Evidence of leadership and flexibility in project management
* Evidence of mentorship of students
* Experience in delivering clinical teaching
* Ability to design teaching courses
* Involvement in quality improvement projects
* Advanced Life Support
