Main Purpose of the Role of a BIM Coordinator
The BIM Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing the Building Information Modelling (BIM) process within the design department of our end-to-end design and build organization. This role requires a high level of technical expertise in BIM software and methodologies to support efficient and consistent BIM integration across design stages. A key responsibility is ensuring that all BIM practices adhere to industry regulations and ISO standards, supporting the successful delivery of high-quality projects.
Accountabilities of a BIM Coordinator
1. BIM Process Management: Lead the BIM process from project initiation through to completion.
2. Deliverable Quality: Ensure that all project deliverables meet company BIM standards and align with client requirements.
3. Stakeholder Collaboration: Foster effective BIM adoption and clear communication with project teams, clients, and stakeholders.
4. Reporting: Prepare BIM usage reports and monitor performance metrics to assess the success of BIM implementation.
5. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all BIM practices align with regulations and ISO standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. BIM Strategy Implementation: Work with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop and execute BIM strategies for each project.
2. Model Management: Lead the creation, maintenance, and management of detailed BIM models, guaranteeing accuracy, consistency, and adherence to project standards.
3. Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate BIM data and models, promoting seamless project coordination and effective communication.
4. Conflict Resolution: Conduct clash detection and resolve design conflicts using tools such as BIM Navisworks.
5. Document Management: Organize and manage project-related documentation, including drawings, models, and ISO 19650:2 specifications.
6. Training and Support: Provide BIM training and support to project team members, promoting best practices and efficient use of BIM tools, including Revit, Navisworks, Dynamo, and Solibri.
7. Industry Awareness: Stay current with BIM industry trends and technological advancements, suggesting process improvements and innovative solutions.
8. ISO Compliance: Adhere to all company ISO requirements by following policies and procedures, attending required training, and actively contributing to department objectives.
Key Skills and Qualifications
1. Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
2. Experience: Proven experience as a BIM Coordinator, BIM Manager, or similar role within the construction industry.
3. Technical Proficiency: Expertise in BIM software, including Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and Solibri.
4. ISO Knowledge: Strong understanding of ISO 19650:2 standards, protocols, and workflows.
5. Modular Construction: Familiarity with modular construction techniques and practices is beneficial.
6. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye for detail.
7. Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively within a team.
8. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
