Primary School Teacher for a Resource Base Location: Calne, SN11 Salary: £140-£150 per day (depending on experience and qualifications) Contract Type: Full-time starting 24th February 2025 We are looking for a full time TA/ LSA for a specialist primary school in Calne that caters for pupils with complex social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. We provide education for children who often struggle to build and maintain healthy relationships due to these challenges. Many of our students display severe challenging behaviours, including issues related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, oppositional defiance and even conduct problems such as aggression. Some may also exhibit self-harm, eating disorders or medically unexplained physical symptoms. About the Role: We are looking for a Teacher who is emotionally robust, resilient and able to handle difficult and disruptive behaviour. You will support children both in the classroom and during more practical, creative activities like art and play therapy, helping them to engage with their learning while also addressing their emotional and social development. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-on-one and small group support to children with SEMH needs Implement individual learning and behaviour plans in collaboration with other teachers and therapists. Help de-escalate challenging situations and create a calm, supportive environment. Build trusting relationships with students who may be withdrawn or display opposition. Assist with both mainstream and practical learning activities tailored to individual needs. What We’re Looking For: Strong emotional resilience and a proactive attitude Ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively and calmly. Open to feedback and guidance with a willingness to listen and learn from experienced colleagues. Previous experience with children who have SEMH or SEN needs is an advantage but not essential. Please Note: This role can be highly rewarding, but it is also demanding. Many of our pupils have been excluded from mainstream schools due to severe behavioural issues and their day-to-day reactions can be unpredictable.
