We are seeking a dedicated and experienced freelance Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance and operations of our facilities on a flexible, hybrid basis. The ideal candidate will be able to travel to site where necessary, possess strong leadership skills and mechanical knowledge, ensuring that all systems operate efficiently and safely. This role requires a proactive approach to project management, with the ability to supervise teams and manage multiple tasks effectively.
The bulk of MEP, maintenance, landscaping and site contracts are in place already, and the position would require the candidate to take on overseeing the implementation of these contracts and auditing any work carried out. We would also expect the candidate to introduce or recommend changes where they believe there would be a tangible benefit to the site.
Responsibilities
* Manage the day-to-day operations of the facilities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards. The bulk of this can be done off-site with weekly audit checks on-site as necessary.
* Oversee maintenance activities, including electrical systems, mechanical equipment by MEP contractors.
* Develop and implement preventative maintenance programmes to prolong the lifespan of equipment and facilities including analysing existing preventative and reactive schedules.
* Audit subcontractors, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality performance.
* Coordinate with external contractors for specialised services as needed.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
* Review schematics and blueprints to understand facility layouts for effective management and to understand the site
* Lead projects related to facility upgrades or modifications, ensuring timely completion within budget constraints.
* Foster a safe working environment by conducting regular safety audits and training sessions.
Qualifications
* Proven and evidenced experience in facilities management or a related field.
* Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
* Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.
* Proficient in reading schematics and technical drawings.
* Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in supervising teams.
* Solid mechanical knowledge with an understanding of MEP systems.
* Strong problem-solving skills with a logical approach to troubleshooting issues and site management plans.
* Ability to work collaboratively across various departments while maintaining a focus on operational excellence.
