Are you a skilled technician with a passion for process control and automation?
At Tata Steel, we are looking for a Process Control Technician to support our manufacturing operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimising process control systems. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise in a fast-paced industrial environment, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability.
What you will do:
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving process control systems to ensure smooth and efficient production. You will work closely with engineering and operations teams to diagnose faults, implement solutions, and carry out routine maintenance on automation and instrumentation systems. Your work will involve responding to process control issues, maintaining and calibrating control systems, and supporting system upgrades. You will also work on control loops, variable speed drives, and process monitoring equipment while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Beyond day-to-day maintenance, you will assist with the commissioning of new automation equipment and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Your ability to troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems, along with your knowledge of industrial communication networks, will be essential to the role.
What you will need:
We are looking for an experienced technician with a strong background in process control, instrumentation, and automation. A time-served apprenticeship and an HNC or higher in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Process Control Engineering are essential, along with experience in PLC programming and fault finding using Siemens S7 or Allen Bradley systems. A strong understanding of SCADA, HMI, and industrial networks such as Profibus and Profinet, as well as a methodical approach to fault diagnosis, will be key to success in this role.
Your ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic industrial environment is essential. Experience with process control systems in heavy industry or manufacturing would be an advantage.
