Job Accountabilities
* Ensure UU's continued compliance to external requirements (UKAS, DWI, EA) and internal requirements (agreed procedures and processes) through planned internal audit activity.
* Support effective communications and establish inter- and intra-team links within Scientific Services and Street works, plus external links with accreditation agencies and external proficiency testing scheme providers and represent Scientific Services at relevant forums.
* Provide information, advice and support to all Scientific Services Staff on quality issues including the Quality System, internal and external AQC, audits, complaints and anomalies.
* Help resolve Quality related issues both within the Quality Team and throughout Scientific Services.
* Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) within Scientific Services and Streetworks as directed by the Quality Manager, recognising and meeting both internal and external customer requirements.
* Manage the internal audit schedule to meet the requirements of ISO 17025.
* Manage Proficiency Testing (PT) Schemes from external providers, round robins and internal blind spiking programmes to comply with the requirements of ISO 17025/DWTS.
* Maintain and control hard copies of all documentation for field staff and documents associated with the audits.
* Be responsible for the administration and control on several SharePoint sites in accordance with ISO 17025: SSQUAD, SSAMS, QA Audit (for audits, actions, anomalies and PT).
* Promote continuous improvement through training of Scientific Services staff at all levels and provide ongoing support and advice to Scientific Services.
* Produce a weekly operational capacity planning schedule (OCPS) to assist all Scientific Services teams and Street works to progress Quality and Technical tasks to completion in a timely manner.
* Independently review the performance of all Internal Analytical Quality Control Charts (AQCs).
* Promote continuous improvement through Quality System Management Reviews (QSRM).
Knowledge and Skills
* NVQ/QCF Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline.
* Knowledge of ISO 17025, DWTS and Mcerts regulations relating to Scientific Services and Street works.
* High Level of computer literacy with good experience of Microsoft Office programs.
* A thorough understanding of Laboratory systems to enable the coordination of comprehensive compliance reports.
* Good problem solving skills.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills, comfortable developing and delivering presentations to internal senior managers.
* Planning and organising skills.
* Excellent report writing and written communication skills.
* Customer focus with some financial awareness.
* Wide knowledge of laboratory processes and sampling activities.
* Ability to apply skills and knowledge and work with minimum supervision to meet laboratory and business needs.
* Ability to adapt approach for a wide audience.
* Possess skills to confidently deliver training to varying skill levels on a broad spectrum of quality/technical related topics.
