Job Summary Job Purpose Undertaking street lighting repairs, servicing, inspections and new installations including testing and certification. Assisting in the delivery of all capital and Revenue projects in order to manage and maintain the transport network street lighting assets in a safe and operational condition. The post will be based within the Roads Network Operations Team based at Broomhill depot Kirkintilloch. The Council’s Roads Neighbourhood Services is looking to recruit a street lighting Electricaian, to undertake a range of maintenance works, inspection, testing and new project installation upgrades to LED, duties Include assisting technicians the Senior Technician in providing the Council and other stakeholders/Client Departments with a professional service ensuring best value is delivered at all times. The postholder will be allocated works by the technician/ senior technician and will have an apprentice on occasions. Tasks will include undertaking surveys/audits, upkeep of statutory records, installation of new lighting projects to required specifications/ design and associated documentation including sign off certification. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a determination to succeed and deliver first class results with a strong customer focus. They must be able to work both on their own initiative, with minimum supervision, and as part of a team. East Dunbartonshire Council operates an out of hours emergency stand by rota to ensure the street lighting networks safe operation, the candidate is expected to participate and will receive the prescribed allowance and payments whilst on duty. Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment. In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead. Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.
