My client has a fantastic opportunity for a Project Manager to join their team based at their Teesside office working on education projects. My client is a leading regional main contractor who delivers projects across a range of sectors including health, education, commercial, highways, justice, defence, water, and environment.
The role will initially be a multi-site based role, with critical responsibility for the management and success of the project, including customer relations, health and safety, quality, environmental, programme, and the cost/value of operations. Over time, the Project Manager will then be responsible for the one-off larger projects the business wins.
Key Responsibilities
1. Providing leadership and energy
2. Controlling prelims and project budgets
3. Ensuring the construction works run to strict programme
4. Managing pre-construction activities
5. Maintaining strict quality control procedures
6. Procurement and management of the supply chain
7. Management of change - client/Company/supply chain
8. Lead regular site meetings with all interested parties
9. Conducting regular site safety checks
10. Being proactive in the identification and resolution of problems
11. Maintaining effective long-term relationships with the customer and their representatives/advisors
12. Ensuring the project team comply with the Companies Business Management System
13. Reviewing methods of working, alternative materials etc. in order to maximise commercial profitability
14. Seeking and developing ongoing continuous improvement
15. Providing aftercare services to the customer
16. Implementing and maintaining the Company’s Policies for Sustainability, Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental, Training and Development etc. and acting as an exemplar of the Company culture and values
17. Coaching and motivating subordinates
Experience and Qualifications
1. Detailed knowledge of building regulations
2. Experience of project planning
3. Experience of a similar role working for a main contractor (essential)
4. Professional qualification (desirable)
5. SMSTS
6. CITB level 3 Safety Course
7. CSCS Card Black Card
8. Strong leadership and management skills
9. Technical knowledge and experience
10. Commercial and financial awareness
11. Excellent interpersonal skills
12. Understanding of different contracts e.g. NEC, JCT.
