Wickhambrook Surgery have an opening for an NVQ qualified dispenser to join our friendly team. This post has become available due to forthcoming retirement and is available on a part-time basis, ideally for three days per week, 20-24 hours. The role will include: Dispensing medicines safely and accurately. Collecting prescription charges, handling cash and card payments. Maintaining stock levels, liaising with the dispensary manager to facilitate reordering. Receiving and storing supplies, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable. Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed in accordance with practice policy. Safe disposable of returned/out of date medicines. Providing patients with advice regarding all prescription matters. Processing prescription requests via email, phone, face-to-face and online. Processing dossette boxes. Processing home delivery medication. Assisting the dispensary manager in the preparation of monthly returns. Maintaining accurate records. Adhering to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Providing cover for holiday/sick leave. About the Candidate The ideal candidate will be happy to work in a busy working environment and have the ability to maintain meticulous attention to detail. Our team are hardworking; punctual and reliable, and incredibly supportive of each other. They all take a share of providing cover for colleagues' holidays/sickness. These qualities are important in any prospective candidate along with strong IT skills and a caring empathetic nature. The successful candidate will; Be qualified to NVQ 2 Dispenser level as a minimum. Have experience of working in a busy dispensing environment. Demonstrate good team working and communication skills. Be flexible to provide a share of staff cover for colleagues. Be IT confident with good keyboard skills. About Us We are a small practice of approx. 5100 patients, dispensing to almost 100% (approx. 12,500 items per month). Wickhambrook surgery sits centrally in the countryside between Haverhill, Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds, Sudbury and Clare. We are served by a good road structure; however, bus links are infrequent so own transport is essential. Our friendly team consists of 3 GP partners, 1 salaried GP, GP registrars, nurses and HCAs, who are all well supported by very efficient reception, admin and dispensing teams. Our services are further enhanced by colleagues from our primary care network (West Suffolk Rural PCN) who provide services such as physiotherapy, life coaching and wellbeing.
