Working hours for this role are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Job responsibilities
To work as part of the pharmacy team in providing an efficient, effective and safe pharmaceutical service to patients and customers.
To rotate through Dispensary and Clinical areas.
To undertake a range of activities in the dispensary, including the preparation, dispensing and issuing of medicines (including clinical trial products and CDs) in response to prescriptions or requisitions.
To provide a range of clinical and ward services under the direction of the Lead Clinical Technician.
To provide advice to ward staff, patients and carers on pharmaceutical matters within own competency.
To assist the senior Dispensary staff in supervising, training and coaching of pharmacy support workers/student technicians in the dispensary and assist with the daily organisation.
To participate in the late duty, weekend and Bank Holiday rotas.
Person Specification
Education and qualifications:
Essential
1. BTEC level 3 Diploma in the principles and practice for Pharmacy Technicians (previously NVQ 3 in pharmacy services / BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent).
2. Current registration as Pharmacy Technician with General Pharmaceutical Council.
Desirable
1. Accredited checking qualification.
2. Clinical Technician Accreditation in Medicines Management (or equivalent).
Knowledge:
Essential
1. Basic clinical knowledge.
2. Requirements of Good Dispensing Practice.
3. Knowledge of CPD.
4. Knowledge of good stock control principles.
5. Good knowledge of law and ethics related to Pharmacy.
6. Understand the importance of the need for confidentiality.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of the EMIS pharmacy system.
2. Knowledge of Specialist Hospital services e.g. Homecare, Medicines Management, Procurement.
Experience:
Essential
1. Recent experience in a pharmacy setting.
2. Experience of working to SOPs.
3. Experience of working with other healthcare professionals.
4. Experience of working with patients including counselling.
Desirable
1. Experience of working in a pharmacy hospital.
2. Experience of EMIS pharmacy.
