The Signal Technician position earns competitive pay of $16.23/hr. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SIGNAL TECHNICIAN
As a Signal Technician, you will perform installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal control equipment and devices. Your responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical problems, programming computerized traffic signal controllers, maintaining loop detectors and cameras, and assisting in restoring operation to traffic signal control devices that have undergone failures due to various reasons. You will also evaluate the conditions of street signs within city limits and perform wiring of control cabinets prior to field installation. Your role is essential to the city, and you will assist in maintaining accurate records of time and materials used in the maintenance of traffic lights.
Qualifications For a Signal Technician
* High school diploma, GED, or equivalency
* Requires two (2) years of experience in traffic signals and basic knowledge in the electrical field
* Preferred: Three (3) years' experience in related fields
* Achieve IMSA Level I Certification within a year of employment
* Achieve IMSA Level II Certification within two years of employment
* Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record
