GSL Education is working closely with a secondary school in Portsmouth to recruit a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant. This role is ideal for those with school-based experience or transferable skills from other sectors, ready to make a lasting impact on students' well-being and learning journeys. Role Overview Provide tailored support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Assist teachers in creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student growth. Deliver 1:1 and small group support, ensuring students remain engaged and motivated. Implement strategies to help students develop emotional regulation, resilience, and academic skills. Monitor and report on student progress, collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to promote student success. What We’re Looking For Experience supporting students with SEMH or transferable skills from roles such as youth work, mental health support, or care work. Patience, empathy, and a strong understanding of the challenges students with SEMH may face. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students and colleagues. A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting the individual needs of students. Why This Role?
