Job summary Applications are invited for the post of clinical support worker to work on Romanby ward at the Friarage Hospital. Post holders will be appointed at band 2 or band 3 depending upon qualifications. Band 2 requirements - willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role. Band 3 requirements - Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/ 4-9) Care certificate Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3;- Theoretical knowledge- Experience of a range of care and related procedures- clinical observations- knowledge of relevant legislation There is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a band 2 to band 3 and this includes completion of the qualifications. The post holder will work 11.5 hour shifts which will include work at weekends and nights. Romanby ward is a medical ward which cares for patients with varied needs ranging from acute illness management, chronic disease management, palliative care and the complexities of discharge processes. Main duties of the job As a clinical support worker, you will work together with a registered nurse to provide nursing care for an allocated group of patients. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated person who is committed to delivering a high quality of individualised patient centred care in a caring and compassionate manner. The successful candidate may undertake any or all of the following clinical or therapeutic activities: o taking blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation, level of alertness and completion of NEWSo blood glucoseo observing patients for signs of agitation or distresso wound observations, simple wound dressingso venepunctureo removal of peripheral cannulao urinalysis, removal of cathetero weight and heighto record patient observationso other tests if competent.
