An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team in the Belford Hospital.
Situated in Fort William, the outdoor capital of the UK, the Belford Hospital has an established reputation in the management of trauma, particularly mountain accidents. This 34-bed hospital features a fully equipped enhanced care unit and a wide range of radiographic and radiology services, including on-site ultrasound and CT imaging. Its facilities encompass an acute assessment unit, a post-acute rehabilitation ward, a theatre suite, a day case unit, a midwife-led unit, as well as laboratory and pharmacy services.
The bustling Emergency Department receives over 11,000 new attendances annually and includes a minor injuries unit managed by a dedicated team of advance nurse practitioners.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an innovative and dynamic experienced registered nurse to lead the nursing team within the Emergency Department. As the Senior Charge Nurse you will be committed to continuous professional development and possess strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to apply these effectively in a dynamic environment. As an experienced nurse you will provide strong clinical theoretical and practical leadership to the Emergency Department team whilst promoting a collaborative partnership with multi disciplinary colleagues both within and out with the department. You will provide a high standard of nursing care and be able to demonstrate that you can deliver change through effective clinical leadership.
The hospital provides acute services to a diverse population in a mountainous landscape. This post offers the satisfaction of living and working in one of the UK's unspoilt countryside.
This is a permanent full time 37 hour post, working Monday to Friday but some flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the department and service.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
