The Defence School of Logistics and Administration (DSLA), one of three schools in the Defence College of Support (DCSp) delivers training to all Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force service personnel in Supply, Distribution, Catering, and Personnel Administration. We are predominantly based at Worthy Down - a newly built, modern campus in Winchester.

You will lead the rest of the Work Force Career Management Department to deliver a fantastic customer service to our Military and Civilian permanent staff, while maintaining an overview of all proposed and current changes so that the right decisions can be made. Providing guidance and support to the senior leadership team, you will co-ordinate meetings so excellent organisational skills are key.

Job description
This role heads up the Work Force Career Management Department that sits within the outer office of the DSLA headquarters, providing Career Management and support to the military and civilian permanent staff at DSLA. We are seeking a Higher Executive Officer to lead the department and oversee and support all of the outputs of the team of 4. You will manage a wide variety of change requests and be the point of contact for all permanent staff (predominantly the senior leadership team) and liaise with the college headquarters. Your outputs are vital at a time of considerable change � you will keep a handle on the bigger picture, while managing expectations and offering process guidance.
Some of your main responsibilities will include: �
1. Maintaining oversight of all School military and civilian positions
2. Managing and maintaining data integrity aligned to our higher headquarters Worthy Down and DSLA via liaison with our Establishment officer
3. Chair and run the monthly school Establishment meeting
4. Oversee and manage major and minor personnel change programmes
5. Oversee and staff minor change requests for DSLA
6. Assist and advise on workforce related issues
7. Line management of the department consisting of 1 x civil servant and 2 x Military including reporting responsibilities
8. Provide resilience and continuity to the line management chain in the absence of other team members
Person specification
We are seeking applicants who have initiative and are able to consider the big picture and full context of the organisation. Due to the variety of ranks of Service Personnel (SP) and grades of Civil Servants (CS), you will need to be an extremely effective communicator and have the ability to prioritise and make decisions based on lots of different will conduct the role professionally and with discretion owing to the sensitivities that can arise through a HR workload.
It is essential that you have good organisational skills, are a strong communicator in a variety of formats, and have confidence in using IT programmes, specifically Excel and Word.
It would be advantageous to have experience of working within the Ministry Of Defence preferably with exposure to the HR systems, but this is not essential as full training will be given.
