Job summary The Medical unit at Leicester Royal Infirmary Hospital are seeking to recruit a ward clerk for the busy stroke ward. This post is full time and works alongside a ward clerking team as well as a small stroke team. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, and a good understanding of basic computer skills. Knowledge of hospital Patient Center / HISS is an advantage; however training will be given to the right candidate. Candidates should be enthusiastic, self-motivated and organised. A caring and compassionate outlook is also essential in dealing with the stressful and demanding situations that can occur within the ESM setting; however the main role of the ward clerk is to provide support for the medical wards ensuring we maintain a live bed state. Main duties of the job The applicant needs to have computer skills, good communication skills and experience of working in a team. You will be the first point of contact when patients and visitors arrive onto our Ward, and will undertake such duties as maintaining a clean and tidy environment. keeping our patient centre system up to date, including admission transfers and discharges of patients, taking responsibility for inpatient / outpatient notes. answering telephone calls and queries from clients, relatives and members of the multi-disciplinary team and forwarding enquiries to appropriate staff as well as helping to ensure the smooth running of the ward by undertaking administrative duties in a timely manner.
