As a General Operative, you will play an important part in our Site Delivery Team who are responsible for the construction, testing and commissioning of several large projects.
The Caledonia Water Alliance will successfully and safely work with Scottish Water to jointly deliver SR21, a six-year water and wastewater infrastructure pan Scotland capital investment programme.
As a Civils Operative your duties and responsibilities will include:
1. Excavating trenches, placing pipe bedding material, laying, and jointing pipes, backfilling and compacting trenches, mix and lay concrete, operate machinery, using equipment such as drills and pumps and move and unload materials
2. Duties may also include fencing work, earthworks, construction of pipeline chambers and assisting skilled workers, for example joiners or bricklayers
3. Working under the instruction and supervision of Gangers, Foremen and General Foreman
4. Operating various site plant that you have been trained on and other construction site vehicles as well as acting as a Banksman
5. Keeping the site tidy and looking after tools and equipment
6. Providing assistance to the site team which may include a number of varied tasks
7. At all times to be working in a safe manner with consideration towards fellow workers and members of the public who may come into contact with our work
8. Experience in working on both wastewater and clean water is important
9. Roads and Street works training and experience required
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
10. Previous experience in a Civil Construction environment
11. Experience and a sound understanding of cross-country pipeline construction
12. NRSWA operative
13. Water SHEA & National Water Hygiene (ideal but not essential)
14. A good understanding of Health & Safety
15. Full driving licence and willingness to travel
