Our client - a leading UK product designer and distributor - is looking for a Junior Buyer to join their expanding team. With a dedicated in-house team of designers, they bring flair and imagination to their products. As an organisation, they are passionate about creating innovative and high-quality items.
As a Junior Buyer, you will work closely with the senior buying and product development team to create exciting new product ranges. You will be responsible for managing sub-categories and ensuring successful launches of regular seasonal newness, as well as the ongoing development of existing products.
Key Responsibilities:
* Management of sub-categories and successful launch of regular seasonal newness.
* Writing new product briefs alongside the design team to submit to suppliers.
* Analyzing quotes and updating costing sheets accurately for senior buying team sign-off.
* Negotiating pricing with suppliers in line with company margin requirements.
* Developing strong supplier relationships.
* Managing critical paths to ensure adherence to key dates.
* Sample management, including tracking, unpacking/packing, and sending out samples as needed.
* Working with suppliers to ensure all samples are present for range selection and photography dates in line with the critical path.
* Resolving day-to-day queries and submitting sample and pricing feedback.
* Assisting in product selection meetings at senior and director level.
* Creating new SKUs and POs on internal systems, ensuring all information is complete and accurate.
* Liaising closely with the design team to assist in writing packaging specifications.
* Conducting trend analysis to identify market and product opportunities.
* Attending UK & Overseas trade shows and regular buying trips to suppliers across the Far East.
Ad Hoc Duties:
* Assisting in producing weekly trade reports.
* Providing ad-hoc reports & analysis as required.
* Supporting the maintenance of accurate product data.
* Supporting UK trade shows as needed.
* Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills/Experience Required:
* Previous experience within a product development or buying team.
* Strong Excel skills and high-level proficiency with other Microsoft Office programs.
* Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously and adapt to change while managing a high workload.
* Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
* Forward-thinking approach to challenges.

* Proven history of successful supplier negotiation.
* Understanding of critical paths and seasonal range development.
