Support Worker
Location : Lewes
Salary: A GBP 24,126 (A GBP 12.54 per hour) : A GBP 26,377 (A GBP 13.71) per annum
Hours: Shift work (they can offer between 14 hours and 40 hours per week)
* Morning Shift: 07.00: 14.00
* Late Shift: 13.45: 21.00
* Split shift: 07.30am : 10.00am 15.00: 21.00
** please note, they currently are not offering bank contracts as they are at their full capacity**
They also offer an enhanced rate for weekends and bank holidays. (can be subject to change).
Current enhancements are:
* Weekends rate enhancement + 25 : A GBP 15.68 : 17.14
* Bank Holiday rate enhancement + double time : A GBP 25.08 : A GBP 27.42

The Role
What youll be doing and learning:
* Safeguarding : understanding all aspects of safeguarding, with an emphasis on what this means for children and young people with disabilities.
* Eating and drinking : supporting how different children and young people can be helped to eat and drink safely.
* Medicines : ensuring that the children and young people you work with receive the correct medicine at the right time.
* Manual handling : using a range of equipment with the children and young people, while keeping them and yourself safe.
* Intimate care : ensuring that the children and young peoples hygiene needs are taken care of safely and with dignity
* Powered mobility : using powered wheelchairs and other equipment safely and encouraging the children and young people to learn to drive.
* Youll have the pleasure of attending a variety of days out and participate in fun activities with their children and young people.
* Epilepsy : safely managing children and young people who have seizures, and what to do in an emergency.
In return for your hard work and dedication you will receive high quality induction and ongoing training from qualified professionals. This includes supporting you to achieve the care certificate and a level 3 Diploma.
Skills and Qualifications
* A basic understanding of the care and support needs of people with physical disabilities and respecting them as individuals
* Ability to see the person, not the disability, with a positive attitude towards diversity in general.
* Empathy and a genuine passion to help others and the capacity to find unique ways to build rewarding relationships with the young people here.
* Ability to support children and young adults to participate in a range of activities.
* Good basic understanding of Maths, English, and IT
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) or willingness to undertake training to achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
* Willing to attend specific training and confidently set up gastrostomy feeds for children and young adults.
* Willing to work shift patterns including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
If you also have experience of working with children and/or adults with disabilities and have a willingness to drive the Foundation vehicles, including minibuses, it would be an advantage.
