The Role:
As Senior Legal Counsel reporting to the General Counsel, you will be an integral part of the legal team and provide strategic direction for key partnerships and agreements across all venues and customer segments. You will work on complex commercial contracts and provide high quality commercial legal and compliance advice to the Group, acting as a trusted advisor and key stakeholder in the business.
Key Responsibilities:
·To provide commercial legal and compliance advice to the Group. This advice will include drafting, negotiating, and advising on commercial contracts and agreements relating to venue licensing, the provision of commercial services, outsourced services, data protection, IT and general procurement, intellectual property, media/marketing, and corporate compliance.
·To be a dedicated “first port of call” for legal advice for the Procurement Team to assist in the preparation of tender documentation, reviewing tender submissions (including contractual amendments) and advising on deal structures.
·To develop legal precedents through liaison with the relevant business units and to maintain such precedents in order to ensure that they reflect current business practice and new legal developments.
·To support and enhance the Group’s “Compliance Culture” through research into best practice in terms of regulatory compliance and by advising on new legislation in a manner that enables business colleagues to prepare legislation impact assessments and actions plans.
·To support legal training within the Group by the preparation and delivery of bespoke business oriented legal training modules to business units and corporate departments.
·To act as lead lawyer on many important commercial projects within the business, ranging from (but not limited to) sponsorship and media agreements, commercial supply contracts, IT and procurement contracts, together with advising on issues such as IPR, Data Protection and competition law.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Qualified Solicitor with at least 8 years’ PQE.
* Proven experience in commercial contracts.
* Strong ability to build relationships at all levels, including Board-level.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in a business-friendly way.
* A proactive, solution-focused approach to legal challenges, with an understanding of the live events industry and its unique legal requirements.
