SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Birmingham, B8
Salary: £89 to £110 Daily
Start Date: ASAP, Full Time

Monarch Education is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive school community in the Birmingham area. This school prides itself on creating a welcoming environment where both staff and pupils treat one another with respect. We are currently seeking a qualified Teaching Assistant, or the school will consider candidates who do not hold a qualification but must have previous experience working with SEN. This is a full-time, term-time only position. However, part-time hours may be considered.
Key Responsibilities of a Special Needs Teaching Assistant:
* Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs (SEN) in the classroom.
* Assist with the implementation of tailored learning plans, ensuring that students are engaged and supported in accessing the curriculum.
* Adapt resources and teaching materials to meet the specific needs of individual students, promoting independence where possible.
* Support students with physical and/or emotional needs, helping them to engage positively in classroom activities.
* Assist with the delivery of targeted interventions, helping students to catch up with missed learning and reach their potential.
Student Welfare and Support:
* Offer emotional and pastoral support to students, ensuring their well-being is always a priority.
* Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their self-esteem and promoting positive behaviour.
* Work closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to identify students' needs and develop appropriate strategies to support their learning and development.
Classroom Management:
* Support the class teacher in maintaining a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
* Assist in managing student behaviour, ensuring that students are following instructions and working collaboratively.
* Ensure that students' needs are met during whole-class activities, supporting them to stay on task and make progress.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
* Work collaboratively with the SEN team, teaching staff, and school leadership to ensure consistent, high-quality support for students with SEN.
* Attend meetings and contribute to discussions around students' progress, support strategies, and overall development.
* Participate in training and development opportunities to further enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting students with special needs.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
* A relevant qualification in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or childcare is desirable, but not essential, if you have substantial experience in a previous role.
* Additional training in supporting students with autism, dyslexia, or other SEN-related courses is an advantage.
Experience:
* Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, either in a school or other educational setting.
* Understanding of how to support students with a variety of learning needs, including autism, ADHD, and physical disabilities.
* Experience of working with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups is preferred.
* You MUST have experience of working in a UK school.
* Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualifications are preferred.
