Job Title: Registered Manager - Children's Home
Location: Derby, Derbyshire
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 (dependent on experience)
About the Role:
Our client, a well-established residential children’s home provider, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Manager to oversee their children's home. This role is perfect for a motivated and compassionate individual who is committed to delivering high-quality care and ensuring the welfare and development of young people in a residential setting.
As a Registered Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the children's home while leading and motivating a team of dedicated staff to provide exceptional care. You will ensure that all regulations are adhered to, working closely with the team to deliver a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for the children and young people in your care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the daily operations of the residential children’s home to ensure compliance with the Children’s Home Regulations and Ofsted standards.
2. Lead, manage, and support a team of residential care staff, including recruitment, training, and development.
3. Ensure the safety and well-being of all children and young people in your care, providing a nurturing and therapeutic environment.
4. Develop and implement care plans, ensuring that they meet the individual needs of each child or young person.
5. Build positive relationships with external agencies, families, and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication.
6. Maintain high standards of record-keeping and case management in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
7. Monitor the performance of the home through regular audits, reviews, and performance management.
8. Take responsibility for the home's budget, ensuring the effective use of resources.
9. Provide leadership and guidance to staff, offering support and supervision when necessary.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
1. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a senior position within a residential children's home, with proven leadership and management experience.
2. Level 3 Children and Young People Workforce Qualification (or equivalent).
3. Knowledge of relevant legislation and Ofsted standards governing children's homes.
4. Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and health and safety protocols.
5. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work under pressure and make decisions in a timely manner.
7. A genuine passion for working with children and young people, with a commitment to their welfare and development.
Desirable Skills:
1. Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards).
2. Experience in preparing for and participating in Ofsted inspections.
