Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Canterbury, Kent, UK - Onsite
Salary: Up to £55,000 DOE + Benefits
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in development engineering.
This role plays a crucial part in developing high-performance interconnect solutions for critical applications in aerospace and defense industries. The Lead Engineer will oversee product design, guide junior engineers, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and conduct design reviews.
2. Collaborate with sales on engineering feasibility and assess new project opportunities.
3. Lead the NPI lifecycle from concept to manufacturing, including quoting and cost analysis.
4. Manage ERP documentation, create manufacturing specifications, and control configuration.
5. Conduct customer technical discussions and ensure compliance with AS9100 standards.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Minimum 7 years in mechanical engineering, ideally with a background in aerospace, defence, automotive or industrial.
2. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and FEA tools; strong understanding of project management and manufacturing processes.
3. Strong adaptability, customer focus, and leadership skills.
