School Nurse - full-time during term time - January 2025 start
We are looking for an experienced medical professional to join our Medical and Welfare Team on a full-time during term time plus 5 days in the school holidays basis. The start date of our Spring Term is 6 January 2025. Successful candidates will be able to step in seamlessly to work as part of a small on-site Medical and Welfare team, as well as independently, in order to provide outstanding first aid and medical treatment to our pupils and staff throughout the school day.
The successful candidate should be organised, able to work under pressure, able to communicate clearly and be computer literate (a knowledge of SIMS would be advantageous). A strong understanding of Child Protection issues and best practice is essential. School nursing experience would be an advantage, as would experience in pediatric nursing, adolescent health and/or A&E. We are pleased to consider applications from a variety of suitably qualified medical professionals, such as registered Nurses, Associate Nurses, Paramedics or Healthcare professionals. A RSCN, RN-Child or RGN qualification is not required for this role. A First Aid at Work Certificate will be required. Of paramount importance is a friendly, approachable personality; excellent communication skills; and an ability to work independently with confidence.
The post will require you to work during the term time plus 5 staff training and INSET days in the school holidays. Additional work could be available, by mutual agreement, at the weekend and outside regular term times for extra-curricular activities, sporting fixtures and school trips.
Working days/hours:
* Mondays to Fridays during term time, plus 5 days in the school holidays, to include 5 staff and Inset days, i.e. 35.2 weeks.
* Working hours will be 08:00 to 17:00, totaling 42.50 hours per week
* Part-time hours may be considered for the right candidate but we prefer full-time availability.
* There is an expectation that the postholder will monitor the Medical Team email inbox regularly, checking for those that require attention, even during school holidays.
Holidays:
* The post-holder is entitled to school holidays, less 5 staff and Inset days per annum in the school holidays, plus Bank Holidays;
* Annual leave must be taken during school holidays. School term and holiday dates are published annually. Any variances must be agreed with the Headteacher.
Pay:
The actual gross annual salary based on hours and weeks worked will be dependent on qualifications and experience. This is a term-time only role but you will receive your salary paid over 12 months. Weekend work for Sport fixtures and training, trips and extra-curricular activities is paid at an equivalent hourly rate.
