An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineering Manager to join Edwards abatement solutions in Clevedon.

Mission –
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, this role will have direct responsibility for leading, empowering and motivating multiple teams of Mechanical and Development Engineers in the new product design and development of semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
Main Responsibilities
* Lead 'Mechanical Engineering' activities across applicable projects through the mechanical engineers and teams as assigned, ensuring that such teams work cohesively, collaborate effectively, guiding the team toward successful project milestones through to completion, using SMART objectives within annual development plans, and monitoring via regular and timely 1:1s with direct reports.
* Advocate and lead the adoption of best practice mechanical engineering across applicable projects to improve the delivery of the engineering function to time, cost, quality and specification, whilst ensuring the appropriate level of effective technical governance is in place for safety, compliance quality and reliability.
* Ensure the mechanical engineering of product development meets requirements from Stakeholder through to subsystem-level requirements, ensuring effective validation and verification plans are in place.
* Lead the mechanical engineering budgets for people and financial resources and contribute to development of future forecasting with the Senior Engineering Manager.
* Drive innovation, identifying IP opportunities and also threats, for new products, maintaining an awareness of competitor and wider industry solutions.
* Drawing on your extensive experience, offer expert advice to other engineers, including supporting the training and development of engineers through formal and informal mentoring, effective professional developments plans, including where applicable professional registration, to become efficient and highly-effective mechanical engineers and a part of a growing and vibrant talent pool.
Experience & Skills
* More than 10 years’ experience of practical application of best-practice Mechanical Engineering in a relatable engineering industry (Essential).
* Significant experience working in a regulated, compliance-driven industry. Strong understanding on product safety and compliance (Essential).
* Experience of recruiting, interviewing, and hiring Mechanical Engineers both from an emerging internal talent pool as well as external for experienced hiring (Essential).
* Experience of tutoring / instructing best-practice Mechanical Engineering (Essential).
* Must have excellent influencing and negotiation skills at multiple organisational levels (Essential)
* Displays clear leadership behaviours, take ownership, and control of a situation and bring people with them even though they may not be direct reports (Essential)
* High level of integrity and accountability with a results-driven mindset, able to set the standard, and hold people accountable to deliver (Essential)
* Project and budget management skills (Essential)
* Experience of effectively coaching others (Essential)
* Able to ‘teach’ best-practice Mechanical Engineering and transfer accumulated knowledge (Essential).
