Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Trainer Assessor in Building Services (Heating & Ventilation) to join the Apprenticeships team. This role involves managing a caseload of learners and delivering comprehensive training, coaching, mentoring, and assessment to guide learners toward successful completion of their apprenticeship or qualifications.
Location: Cambridge
Contract Type: Full-time, permanent (37 hours/week)
Salary: £25,918 - £39,004 per annum
Annual Leave: 27–34 days (based on length of service), plus bank holidays

Key Responsibilities of the Trainer Assessor – Building Services (Heating & Ventilation):
1. Training and Learner Support:
o Manage an agreed caseload of learners, providing high-quality training and support at College and workplace venues.
o Serve as the main point of contact for learners and employers, fostering positive relationships and providing progress feedback.
o Conduct initial learner assessments and develop individual learning plans.
o Design training plans that incorporate Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours (KSBs) to prepare learners for the Gateway and End Point Assessment (EPA).
2. Instruction and Assessment:
o Deliver engaging training sessions to build learner KSBs and ensure EPA readiness.
o Regularly review learner progress, set targets, and provide developmental feedback.
o Maintain detailed records and adhere to quality assurance processes, managing e-portfolios and assessment documentation.
o Organise assessments and ensure equal access for all learners.
3. Administrative and Support Duties:
o Interview prospective learners and conduct assessments to ensure programme suitability.
o Complete necessary documentation for learner registration, completion, or withdrawal.
o Maintain an electronic diary of workplace visits, adhering to lone working policies.
o Ensure off-the-job training is planned, tracked, and effectively monitored.
4. Health and Safety and Compliance:
o Promote best practices in health and safety for all training activities.
o Ensure learners are informed of their health and safety obligations.
o Engage in CPD and complete mandatory training as required.
5. Employer Engagement:
o Establish and maintain strong employer relationships to support learner progress and secure new business.
o Represent the College at events to promote programmes and recruit new learners.
o Collaborate with End Point Assessment Organisations (EPAOs) to support learner outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience Required for the Trainer Assessor – Building Services (Heating & Ventilation):
Essential:
• Level 3 qualification in a relevant vocational area.
• Level 3 TAQA or equivalent assessing qualification (or willingness to obtain).
• Recent vocational experience with a commitment to ongoing CPD.
• Strong caseload management, communication, and IT skills.
Desirable:
• Industry-specific qualifications and familiarity with awarding body standards to include
• Experience mentoring apprentices and using e-portfolios.
• Experience in further education or training environments.
Special Conditions:
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holiday periods as needed.
• A valid driver’s licence with business insurance or suitable alternative transport.
• Enhanced DBS check required.
