The Collections Manager is responsible for overseeing the collections process to minimise outstanding debts, improve cash flow, and reduce bad debt exposure. This role involves developing strategies for effective debt recovery, leading the collections team, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Debt Recovery & Management: Develop and implement strategies to reduce overdue accounts and debts, negotiate repayment plans, and resolve disputes with clients in a professional manner.
2. Team Leadership: Lead, train, and motivate the collections team to achieve performance targets, monitor team performance using key metrics (e.g., DSO, collection rates), and provide feedback for improvement.
3. Client Relationship Management: Maintain positive relationships with clients to ensure a cooperative approach to debt recovery, addressing customer concerns or complaints regarding billing or payment issues promptly and effectively.
4. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies, regularly review collections policies, and recommend improvements to mitigate risk.
5. Reporting & Analysis: Prepare regular reports on collections performance, highlighting trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement, analyse overdue accounts and recommend appropriate actions, including legal escalation where necessary, and work closely with finance and treasury teams to forecast cash flows based on collections performance.
6. Process Optimisation: Continuously review and enhance the collections process to improve efficiency and effectiveness, leveraging technology and automation tools to streamline workflows and reduce manual intervention.
Requirements:
1. Proven experience in a Senior Management / Collections Manager role.
2. Experience with Netsuite desirable but not essential.
3. Sound written and verbal communication essential.
