A quick look at the role The Business Data Transformation Lead will drive Biffa’s data transformation, helping to improve our data architecture and infrastructure, as well as enhancing business processes related to data across the organisation. This is a key leadership position that requires a combination of strong data expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to collaborate across functions and effect real change. Reporting to the Head of Data & Analytics, the role will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive data transformation strategy, starting with one of our major change programmes which includes replacing our legacy CRM system and aligning business objectives with data-driven decision-making. The person will collaborate with the business to drive the strategic data outcomes that would enhance our customer sales and service business process to drive growth. The role is also expected to support the BAU activities related to data such as, but not limited to, establishing and enforcing best practices for data governance, quality, privacy, and compliance across the organisation. The role will work closely with the business lead on each change programme, with other business teams and with technology teams such as data architects and data migration team to define and oversee the integration of disparate data sources into cohesive, accessible, and meaningful data sets that inform business strategies and performance metrics. This role is crucial to coordinate, support and drive data management activity and data governance processes across the whole of Biffa. This role will set the direction for Biffa’s data landscape and will guide the business in actively managing their data on a day-to-day basis in-line with the data governance framework. The role will have line management responsibilities for one or more data quality analysts.. Your core responsibilities Develop and lead the data transformation strategy to deliver the quality data and business buy-in required to ensure a move to a data-driven organisation. Build on existing assessments of the current data, to provide a detailed and thorough analysis, identifying gaps, redundancies, and inconsistencies. Ensure the future data landscape resolves current data issues and is outcome driven. Implement and improve best practices for data governance, including data quality standards, privacy, and compliance. Design, implement and maintain a business-focussed Master Data Management approach, working with local business teams, transformation and central technical teams to implement as appropriate Work with Data Migration lead and help design the data mapping strategy between the old CRM and the new system, ensuring that data structures are appropriately aligned. Adapt and implement the data quality approach from BAU to support specific project requirements as necessary. Establish processes to monitor and improve data quality throughout the design and build of the solution Ensure that the data transformation process complies with agreed Biffa data standards, relevant data privacy and security regulations, or other industry standards where no Biffa standards are agreed. Ensure the data governance framework is up to date and aligned with the latest business and analytics strategy. Advocate for the principles, structures, artefacts and processes of the framework; evangelising, coaching, guiding and supporting all levels of the business as appropriate. Design and implement metrics to measure progress of the function. Ensure Data Governance team, data owners, data stewards and Data Governance Board are engaged and working effectively. This includes the artefacts and processes to support those critical roles Ensure data is governed, documented, retained and maintained across the agreed lifecycle with change impacts documented, approved and understood Regularly update business leaders on the progress of data transformation, data governance, addressing any challenges or risks. Coordinate with functional teams (Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, etc.) to ensure that their specific data needs are met in the new systems.. Our essential requirements 5 years experience of data management and leading a data governance team Strong background in managing and transforming business data Strong experience collaborating with multiple business units (Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, IT) to align data transformation with business needs Experience designing and implementing Master Data Management tooling and practices Knowledge of data standards and quality frameworks.
