The role:
An opportunity has arisen within the DXC Application Service line to join an Application development team, working on exciting application upgrade projects for a highly prestigious UK based blue chip client in the manufacturing sector.
Responsibilities include:
1. Undertaking service management and enhancement activities involved in the ongoing delivery of Application Management.
2. Providing application lifecycle technical expertise for the support, monitoring, troubleshooting, change, and enhancement of existing application installations in accordance with contractual terms and conditions and established technical standards such as CMMI and ISO.
3. Engaging in and providing support for transition/transformation efforts.
4. Managing technical/service relationships between the company and the customer, subcontractors/vendors, or among various internal organizations.
5. Working with key customers and/or internal businesses/end user representatives to retain customers and build the business.
Day to day tasks:
1. Working with the PM and client to successfully deploy the new versions of the application.
2. Engaging with the vendor if any issues arise.
3. Stopping/starting the application.
4. Deploying files on Windows and UNIX servers.
5. Deploying files in WebLogic.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Applying technical and business knowledge to solve application issues that are critical or high-risk.
2. Independently integrating technical knowledge and business understanding to create superior solutions for the company and for customers.
3. Identifying, managing, and leading escalations via established processes.
4. Proactively and reactively looking for solutions to prevent problems from occurring in team/technology area.
5. Independently reviewing, implementing, and verifying changes/solutions of high complexity and risk to meet customer needs.
6. Overseeing configuration management processes, resolving issues, and implementing processes to improve efficiencies.
7. Working as part of a global, and/or multi-functional team and mentoring less experienced team members.
Requirements:
1. Strong understanding of applications development.
2. Experience of working in both WINTEL and UNIX operating systems.
3. Shell scripting.
4. Vi editor or similar UNIX editing tools.
5. Updating and running Windows batch files.
6. ORACLE WebLogic.
7. ORACLE FUSION.
8. Powershell scripting.
9. Knowledge of ISO20000.
Training and knowledge transfer will be provided in the client-specific environment set up.
