Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Senior Cloud Network Engineer on our Cloud Services Team. This is a unique position looking for a generalist with a blend of significant Network background and platform infrastructure capabilities. You enjoy thinking through a problem and troubleshoot technical issues. In addition, you have experience working with teams cross functionally to get the work done. You will recommend, design, implement and maintain the following: network architectures (LAN, WAN, Public Cloud), server and serverless infrastructure (Windows, Linux, GKE), infrastructure monitoring/management solutions (DataDog and OpManager), and Disaster Recovery/High Availability solutions. To complement your SME skills, you will be responsible to design, implement and maintain server operating system builds (physical and virtual), infrastructure monitoring/management solutions, SAN/NAS storage, backup/restore, DR/HA, and MS Patch/Security management. In addition to Change Management as well as various other incident and work order tracking processes, all Cloud members are required to follow all policies and procedures defined in the Applied Systems Employee’s Handbook. What You'll Do Plan, implement, manage and maintain a complex environment of Microsoft Windows server solutions and architectures in the Applied Cloud environment. Occasional travel to Applied Systems data centers to install/upgrade Data Center infrastructure across Network, Storage and Compute. Solid understanding and experience with network fundamentals, including Layer 3 protocols such as BGP/EIGRP and Layer 4-7 such as TCP, Load Balancers, Firewalls, and DNS. Proficiency with hyperconverged infrastructure, Windows Server, and Linux Strong design, architecture, installation and configuration experience of enterprise level virtual environments including High Availability and Fault Tolerant Features Proficient knowledge in Microsoft environments; Windows Server, Test, plan an implement complex hybrid infrastructure to support our environment Participate in on-call rotation Performs other duties as assigned by immediate manager or management team. What You’ll Need to Succeed We’re looking for someone who: Ability to work 100% remotely, or from an Applied Systems office. Your experience should include some or all of the following: 5 years directly related work experience and/or an equivalent combination Strong Exposure to both vendor hardware solutions (F5, Cisco, CloudFlare) as well as GCP network management and services Strong foundation in Microsoft Windows 2019/2022 operating systems, roles and server applications such as Active Directory, System Center, Exchange, SharePoint and RDS. (MCP/MCSE a plus) Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or higher as well basic understanding of OLTP workloads. (MSDBA a plus) Knowledge of Python scripting a big plus Understanding of conventional and hybrid Storage Area Networks (SAN) and switching fabrics. Understanding of basic concepts and solutions associated with VMware server virtualization and hypervisor technology. (VCP a plus) Understanding of Google/AWS/Azure components/concepts. Expertise in Google technology offers a big plus (GCS, GCP, GCE, GKE, etc) Strong foundation in performance management and troubleshooting (server, storage, and networking.) Excellent technical writing and general communication (verbal and written) skillsets Proficiency in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting x86 server hardware. Proficiency in data center best practices. (Proper infrastructure planning, cabling and record keeping.)
