Senior Product Manager - Operations
Location: Coventry/London Kings Cross
At World of Books, we are more than a company—we are a movement, redefining sustainability and circular commerce. As a certified B Corp, our mission is clear: we protect the environment, simplify, move fast, and deliver results, and work as one team to create solutions that benefit our customers and the planet. If you are passionate about leading innovation, optimising operations, and shaping the future of warehousing and fulfilment, this is the role for you.
The Role
As Senior Product Manager - Operations, you will play a pivotal role in revolutionising how we handle millions of books each year—from receiving and storage to fulfilment and delivery. Working within an empowered product team, you will drive automation, efficiency, and user experience, ensuring our warehouse systems evolve into world-class solutions.
Your mission: Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, from discovery to execution. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams—engineering, operations, UX, data, and business leaders—to ensure we build the right things for our customers and the business. This is not a role where you’ll be told what to build—you’ll define the vision, strategy, and execution roadmap to create meaningful impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
Finding and Managing Opportunities
* Define and drive the product vision & strategy for warehouse automation, fulfilment, and distribution systems.
* Collaborate with operations teams to identify key pain points and opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance colleague and customer experience.
* Set and own OKRs, ensuring alignment with business goals and measuring success.
* Stay ahead of trends in technology, industry best practices, and competitors to fuel innovation.
* Proactively engage stakeholders to shape strategy, prioritise initiatives, and ensure business alignment.
Product Discovery
* Lead product discovery, working closely with UX, user research, engineering, and business SMEs.
* Translate insights into actionable hypotheses, determining the right things to build using data, evidence, and experimentation.
* Define user stories, use cases, and user journeys, ensuring seamless experiences across our warehouse ecosystem.
* Champion service design, optimising workflows for automation, efficiency, and scalability.
Product Delivery
* Partner with engineering teams to drive efficient product development, balancing speed, quality, and cost.
* Break down work into valuable, iterative releases, ensuring early and continuous impact.
* Define acceptance criteria, prioritise development sprints, and maintain a laser focus on execution.
* Launch and measure product success, iterating based on real-time feedback and performance data.
* Own decision-making: persist, iterate, or pivot based on results.
Product Management Excellence
* Lead by example, driving a Build-Measure-Learn culture that fosters continuous improvement.
* Stay at the forefront of product management trends, methodologies, and techniques, bringing best practices into World of Books.
* Champion outcomes over outputs, ensuring every product decision drives measurable business impact.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a proven product leader who thrives in ambiguity, makes data-driven decisions, and is obsessed with customer and operational impact.
You’ll Succeed Here If You Have:
* Extensive experience in product management, leading warehouse automation, distribution, or fulfilment systems.
* A track record of defining strategy, leading discovery, and delivering products that drive real-world results.
* A deep understanding of dual-track development (discovery & delivery)—we’re big fans of Marty Cagan.
* Experience in stakeholder management and facilitation, confidently leading discussions with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
* An empathetic approach to users, designing solutions that improve operational workflows and efficiency.
* A strong grasp of data and experimentation, using insights to validate hypotheses and prioritise initiatives.
* A bias for action—you don’t wait for someone to tell you what to do; you identify, validate, and execute.
* The ability to compromise in the right way—balancing business needs, technical feasibility, and user experience.
