Job Purpose
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the running and design of our IT Operations structure. As part of a brand-new internal IT team, the IT Manager will (working closely with our suppliers and vendors) provide daily IT assistance to all staff across the UK Agri-Tech Centre and provide vital support to our projects, which drive the adoption of sustainable, progressive circular agri-systems that constantly strengthen and transform UK agriculture and beyond.
As the IT Manager, you will lead the implementation of new systems, helping to roll out and train/upskill staff. You will have the chance to visit each of the organisation’s buildings from Edinburgh to Somerset. As one of the faces of IT, you will assist with onboarding new starters, ensuring IT access and the necessary equipment is in place from day 1.
Main Duties
* Lead the design, support and implementation of IT policies, processes and procedures for employees.
* Support the business’ approach to quality by means of data protection, GDPR and valid accreditation.
* Co-ordinate with third party IT suppliers who supply day to day IT support and hardware, identifying areas for cost savings and ensuring that IT expenses align with the budget.
* Lead the training of staff to adopt and maximise the use of IT systems.
* Manage the delivery of 1st to 3rd line IT services via internal team and 3rd parties, including setting and monitoring SLAs for IT support to ensure timely response and issue resolution and maintain high service availability.
* Assist with the IT aspects of office moves, projects and onboarding new suppliers and systems.
* Monitor, control, and support service delivery, ensuring systems, methodologies, and procedures are in place and followed.
* Assist in planning for major service developments and their implementation.
* Work with company leaders to identify opportunities and design cross-functional processes and workflows.
* Build and develop an idea management process for feedback loops and CI.
* Oversee IT Support Engineer and IT maintenance and software installations.
* Maintain the IT asset register and monitor equipment loans.
* Line management of IT Support Engineer.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Certification in - or excellent recent experience with - core Microsoft products such as Office 365, SharePoint, Teams, InTune and IT security packages.
* Experience supporting and managing Microsoft Teams in a large organisation.
* At least 1 year of management experience within an IT team.
* At least 3 years of IT Support, including 1st/2nd line experience.
* Strong working knowledge of server maintenance and/or network management.
* Demonstrable experience delivering a high level of customer service.
* Prioritise workload and work in a proactive, organised manner.
* Excellent and demonstrable written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
* Experience working with 3rd parties and 3rd party-delivered services.
* A team player committed to working collaboratively with teams at different skill levels and with varied motivations across multiple locations.
* Good understanding of the key principles of GDPR and data protection.
* Experience in training staff members with new system and software adoption.
* Experience tracking KPIs and managing budgets.
* Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Additional Information
* This role offers flexibility - you can work on-site, hybrid, or primarily from home but with the ability to commute to one of the hubs.
* Occasional travel to the Centre’s sites will be required.
