Senior Clinical Practitioner - Oldham Urgent Care

Recently awarded Urgent Treatment Centre status, we are recruiting additional Senior Clinical Practitioners to join our friendly team in Oldham.

Salary: £42,238 to £48,238 a year with additional enhancements for evening and weekend working.
Positions: Full time, part time and bank positions available.
Working patterns: Flexibility between 8am - 11pm, Monday to Sunday.
Location: Integrated Care Centre (ICC), New Radcliffe Street, Oldham, Greater Manchester, OL1 1NL.

Main Duties of the Job
As a Senior Clinical Practitioner (SCP) working within the Oldham locality, you will holistically assess and clinically examine patients within your scope of competence. You will agree on an effective management plan including prescribing where appropriate. In addition, you will have exposure to a multitude of streaming pathways and a broad Directory of Services (DoS) along with:
* Direct access to a wide range of community-based services.
* Direct referral rights to secondary care.
* Access to technology to support telephone and video consultations (full induction and training provided).
* Facilities to see patients face to face (with support if you are expanding your scope of practice).
Patients are referred into the Oldham Urgent Care service from several different routes, including 111, NWAS, Oldham Care Homes, and Health Care Professionals such as District Nurses. The service also manages a virtual ward and a COVID oxymetry at home service.

Job Responsibilities
* Holistically assess and clinically examine patients who fall within your scope of competence, through history taking, physical examination, and appropriate use of tools to confirm diagnosis.
* Plan, implement and evaluate an effective management plan for the patient with support from senior colleagues.
* If you are a non-medical prescriber (NMP), you will provide information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medication on medication regimens, side effects, and interactions.
* You will work towards your NMP qualification if you are not currently an NMP.
* Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations.
* Utilise and demonstrate sensitive communication styles to ensure patients are fully informed and consent to treatment.
* Embrace the use of digital technology to support safe and effective patient care.
* Communicate effectively with patients and carers, recognising the need for alternative methods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background, and preferred ways of communicating.
* Maintain effective communication with senior clinical colleagues, the wider team, the organisation, and with external stakeholders.
* Ensure awareness of sources of support and guidance and provide information in an acceptable format to all patients, recognising any difficulties and referring where appropriate.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Allied Health Professional or Pharmacist.
* Recognised clinical exam skills course and relevant senior work experience.
* If not a non-medical prescriber - willingness to undertake.
* Ideally possess a degree qualification.
Experience
* Accountability of own role and other roles in a practitioner-led service. Clinical examination skills and experience of applying these skills.
* Working in Primary Care/Urgent/Emergency Care.
* Clinical supervision training and experience.
* Experience of leading/managing quality improvement.
Skills and Attributes
