Would you like to support young people who are at-risk of criminal or anti-social behaviour?
Do you have previous experience working with challenging behaviour?
Are you interested in promoting young people’s Mental Health?
A fantastic Alternative Provision in Swindon is currently recruiting for a Mental Health and Behaviour Support to join them ASAP. The alternative provision cater for children and young adults who have been excluded from mainstream education or are in a transition period before finding a place in a specialist setting. Many of the students have experienced trauma, have additional learning needs, behaviour issues as well as other mental health issues. The role will involve mentoring, teaching and supporting young people who are struggling to access education.
This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate or experienced teaching assistant to develop their experience with Special Educational Needs and Behavioural Needs. A graduate with a degree graded 2:2 or above is ideal for this role and some previous experience working with SEN children is desirable. This Mental Health & Behaviour Support position will be working 1:1 with children who have mental health difficulties, display challenging behaviour and have learning disabilities such as Autism. Degrees of particular interest would be Psychology, Criminology and Health & Social Care backgrounds.
By working with students with mental health needs and learning needs, you will gain invaluable first-hand experience supporting vulnerable children. This could be the crucial step you need to become a Psychologist, Counsellor or Mental Health practitioner in the future. You will also help transform the lives of young people who desperately need supporting.
