Through bold, targeted campaigns and marketing, we want to continue to expand our reach, so that more people know about our life-saving services and we continue to break down the stigma that prevents people seeking and offering help. As a vital supportive role across press, social and communications, you’ll be responsible for keeping the whole organisation informed and engaged with external activity, contributing to an active and responsive Press office, helping to activate our Ambassadors through sustained outreach and engagement, and keeping our external audiences engaged across editorial, social and email. RESPONSIBILITIES Press office Own and compile weekly monitoring reports for the organisation to clearly identify CALM’s earned media performance Monitor relevant news stories to inform organisational thinking, strategy and awareness and inform journalist outreach. Catalogue relevant mentions in the PR database and provide summaries and regular updates to the wider team Monitor the Press inbox to ensure CALM responds to press enquiries in a timely fashion Support with the creation and dissemination of press releases and media outreach Ambassador engagement Lead on ongoing communication with CALM Ambassadors to keep them informed about our work and engage with our campaigns Support with Ambassador activations, always-on engagement and impact reporting Support with Ambassador outreach and enquiries Comms & Editorial Support with the management of the e-comms schedule, helping to create targeted e-comms and newsletters Support with editorial planning, updating the PR, social & editorial calendar, and circulating actions and updates from editorial planning meetings Work in collaboration with the Social Media Manager to own the social scheduling and community and creator engagement (paid and organic) across CALM’s social channels Take a proactive approach to insights gathering and reporting, contributing to monthly measurement meetings to inform future activity Contribute to the evaluation of our comms channels, bringing insights and learnings to help inform future planning Your profile Essential Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to proactively manage a complex calendar of activity, monitor a range of topics and communicate updates internally on a regular basis Excellent written and verbal communication: Strong attention to detail and communications skills Experience of writing engaging copy in line with a brand tone of voice Experience of communicating sensitive and complex information to a range of audiences Ability to adapt communication to a range of audiences and channels A solid understanding of social media best practice across Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn and a track record of staying on the pulse of key trends and developments A solid understanding of maintaining confidentiality A collaborative team player who can work across a range of teams to effectively communicate all aspects of the charity’s output Consistent and reliable in your approach to media monitoring and community engagement A data and audience-led approach to all creative output Desirable An understanding of the charity, mental health or suicide prevention sector and the key issues for communication with stakeholders, supporters and the broader public A keen knowledge of the talent landscape, across celebrities, high profile figures and content creators Experience The ideal candidate for this role will have experience at officer level in communications, press and/ or social. Experience in copywriting (social copy, press releases, press briefings, and email copy) and creating in-house content for social channels Experience of responding to press enquiries and managing a press inbox Experience in managing a social media schedule (with a primary focus on Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn) and moderating social channels Experiencing of interpreting and applying data to your work, and sharing insights internally to inform wider organisational planning and processes Experience of working with and building relationships with external stakeholders within a communications context, including: Content creators - identifying key creators and developing briefs for content creation Celebrity Ambassadors - managing relationships with existing Ambassadors Journalists - responding in a timely, proactive manner to journalists to support good working relationships Why us?
